Today I was taking on the role as a head coach for St. Phillips Primary School; this was part of our unit 23. It included handling with great responsibilities and certain skills, such as communication. Not only did I take on the head coach role but I had Alfie Banks assessing my coaching abilities. Also to include I had to teach the children what ‘Inspiration ‘means as it is part of our Pe Olympic Value festival objectives.
To be honest, I think I done pretty well at the head coach role as I felt confident when teaching the children, I explained the tasks carefully and making sure the children wasn’t at a health & safety risk.
Things that went well
Personally what I think went great was:
ü Communication skills – Explaining how the tasks work, what I am looking for.
ü Teaching- All the children understood clearly what they had to do and what the term ‘inspiration’ means.
ü Confidence- my confidence went well , I didn’t struggle at any point in the festival , handle everything smoothly
ü No faults- Nothing went to disaster whilst doing the festival, none of the children were miss behaving which was fantastic!
All these points above show that I have successfully accomplished the role of being a head coach.
But there are still other things I can improve on such as:
Ø Louder communication- my voice wasn’t quite, but it wasn’t loud enough, I need to be a louder motivator.
Ø Sort children in to groups quicker
Overall, the day went great, I really enjoyed myself; all the children have had fun and enjoyed my course. It was a smashing day!
