School Sports Week

My School Sports Week Plan

Who I Am Working With?

For 'Schools Sports Week' i am going to be working with Alfie Banks and a whole range of year 7-10 students.

My Activity + Reason For Choosing It?

We have chosen to set up and run a tag rugby activity for the pupils. The reason we have chosen this sport is because its not a regular sport in the Olympics but its been introduced to Brazil in 2016. By organising this sport it gives the pupils a chance to participate in a different sport and experience what its like.

Focus For Session?

The focus for the sessions is that me and Alfie are going to be assessing the pupils making sure they perform one of the PE Olympic Values (Inspiration, Motivation, Excellence, Respect and Courage) its not all about what team/player is the best, we just want to see good sportsmanship acts and pupils having a great time whilst playing the sport.

Imaginative/Creative Ideas

Venue: We are planning to use the sports field or sports hall for our tag rugby session.

Equipment: We are going to need team bibs, rugby balls, cones.

Layout: We are aiming to layout a reasonably big area.

Other Ideas: We are planning to make the event really entertaining by doing the following..
- Each team will have a national team name e.g England, New Zealand.
- We will try make sure they have team colours to make them look professional

My BANES X-Country Contribution

Review

My contribution to the BANES X-Country was to make sure that the participators are heading for the correct route. I also had to motivate and encourage the participants to complete the course.

Thoughts & feelings:

Personally i thought the whole event went very well and according to plan. Everyone knew where they where running , so that means the course was clearly set out appropriate.I think that everyone showed good excellence and also determination as people were eager and determined to finish the race.

How you completed your job:

I completed my job successful to my recommendation as nothing went wrong , Me and Alfie Banks directed the participators to the finish line (the destination). We had good communication skills with the competitors which was great.

Improvements to make to the competition and contribution:

The improvements that could be made to the competition could be that the officials have a communication source , such as walkie talkies. Also the course could be more interesting, even though its on a playing field it, we can choose a different destination if possible.

Final Write-Up

Overall Write-up
I have now finished visiting primary schools in bath in relation to the PE Olympic Values. Our last school was ‘Oldfield park’, its was the best school I have coached throughout the whole scheme, I was really pleased with the children on that day, well behaved and all participated in the courses set-up. Once again they all understood and shown ‘inspiration’ on that day; it was magnificent.
I felt like I achieved my goal  set last time which was be louder and explain the course more clearly to the children.
Overall ,   I really enjoyed myself through the whole festival and earned a great amount of skill as being a head coach , especially my confidence , I can run a circuit and not get nervous or occur any faults which I am happy with.
I’d like to do this again sometime later in the sixth form year; it was a fantastic experience, a smashing time!
